Grain & Food Ltd is owned and operated by Darren and Jonathan Miers. The brothers are twins and have worked together for their entire working lives.

The Miers family moved to the Hamilton area in the early 1900's orignally from Germany. The Miers family settled in the Fielding area.

Great grandfather William Miers settled in the Hilcrest area of Hamilton and they were jersey breeders. They owned a farm there which is now partly Jansen park. The family then purchased a farm in the 1920's in the Rototuna area and developed this land into pasture which is now in houses and known as Flagstaff.

Our grandfather Earnie Miers and his wife Glad Miers along with their three sons and daughter pruchased peat land at Gordonton in the early 60's. They continued to drain this peat swamp and develop the land into pasture.

Darren and Jonathan set up the contracting business to support their own dairy operation and now concentrate solely on agricultural contracting. The Grain & Food Business now prides itself on having local customers and offering top services and product.
